About Us

Christine Rockwell

Christine has been a dog lover since she could walk. She begged her parents for a dog for years, until finally when she turned 12 years old, they got their first family dog, a Brittany mix name Uno. Since then she has owned a Bloodhound/lab mix Marley (who she trained with to become a credentialed therapy dog), A Great Dane and Bullmastiff mix named Zeus, a Siberian Husky named Apollo, and currently an Australian Shepherd, Golden Retriever, and Labrador Retriever. She has been training in agility with her dogs for the last few years and also enjoys taking them on hikes and paddle boarding. She started pet sitting when she was 13 for neighbors, volunteered in shelters, worked for a breeder, worked as a dog walker and sitter, worked at a daycare, worked for a trainer, and became a professional groomer. Christine is currently a Certified Veterinary Technician and works as a veterinary nurse at an AAHA accredited emergency animal hospital. As of February 2023, she earned a 6 month certificate with Karen Pryor Academy in positive reinforcement (fear free) dog training. She is a KPA-CTP or Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Professional. She loves taking care of dogs and will always treat them like they are her own! Experienced with all breeds, ages and special medical needs.

Dennis Rockwell

Dennis has been a firefighter for over 26 years and currently working for TF Green Airport Fire Dept.  On his days off, Dennis helps keep Watch Dog running smoothly.  Constant play inside or out keeps him busy all day.   Dennis has a passion for animals, especially dogs his whole life.  Dennis loves to work with dogs at Watch Dog, calling it his opportunity to "test drive" all the different breeds!  Over the past couple of years, Dennis has learned a lot about dog behavior and "language",  which has helped with keeping dogs safe and secure.  Dennis loves the challenge of getting a new dog to feel comfortable in the new setting, even when told the dog has been uncomfortable around men.  Between laying on the floor, hand feeding to break the ice, or sitting with the dog during feeding time, Dennis will do what it takes to make the dog feel comfortable, allowing your pup to open up and have fun! He keeps everybody on a routine schedule and makes sure they all get the attention and love they deserve.

Our Story

Christine and Dennis first met on Peace Dale Fire Department where they were volunteer firefighters in 2003. It wasn't until years later they began dating (2010) and fell in love and got married in 2013. They lived in Wakefield but bought a home together in Kingston in 2015. Here they established Watch Dog as a side business so Christine didn't have to travel and sleep in clients homes anymore. With experience as a dog daycare handler and working in a busy grooming shop, it seemed like a natural step to begin her own business and become a legitimate pet care provider. They have attended many seminars focused on group play and dynamics, behavior, training, and fear free handling. It was their goal to make dogs feel at home and feel less like a jail when being boarded away from home. Safety and comfort come first when it comes to caring for dogs and has always been the mission of Watch Dog.
